Reiki practice began with the teachings of Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1920s. Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, M.D., simplified this healing practice. Together with his student, Mrs. Hawayo Takata, Reiki was introduced to the U.S. in 1938. Reiki is now practiced throughout the world.

The Reiki recipient lies fully clothed on a treatment table. The practitioner places their hands lightly on the head and the front and back of the torso. At the end of the session the recipient feels relaxed, refreshed and renewed. A session is typically one-hour and costs $75. Hospital and hospice calls are available.
